Pitch Your Peers, Inc. (PYP), an innovative new organization focused on hyper-local philanthropy, held their launch event Thursday, February 25th, at Putnam & Vine Wine and Spirits, just off Greenwich Avenue.
According to founder Nina Lindia, “To date, thirty-five women have accepted an invitation to join PYP to fund a transformative grant to give to one local Greenwich charity. PYP differs from other grant-funding organizations in that it has no external Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Rather, members whose $1,000 annual dues fund the $25,000 grant, pitch and educate their peers on deserving local causes and charities about which they are passionate. The entire membership evaluates the proposed recipients and votes to award the once annual grant.”
PYP’s founding board members – Nina Lindia, Brooke Bohnsack, Rachel LeMasters and Dara Johnson – have elected to personally underwrite any start-up costs so that 100% of members’ annual dues will go directly to fund the grant award. The four Greenwich founders bring years of local charity involvement, corporate marketing expertise and special event planning to PYP’s novel charitable concept.
“With an active, informed membership of charitable women, and an acute focus on local causes, Pitch Your Peers should be a powerful voice in local giving for years to come. It also represents a franchise model that could be easily reproduced in other philanthropically-minded towns across the United States,” added Brooke Bohnsack.
