This single-vineyard ‘Australe’ is 100% Serine, an ancient clone of Syrah, and fills the mouth with ripe dark fruits and herbs, finishing with rounded, graceful tannins. Pair with bold-flavored meats like game, duck, or lamb.
Biodynamic farming. From old vines on the north hillside of the Forca Real Mountain on schist soils with veins of quartz. Winemaker Marjorie Gallet grew up near Côte Rôtie and earned her oenology degree at Montpellier while doing apprenticeships with Yves Cuilleron and Pierre Gaillard in the northern Rhone, and Gérard Gauby in Roussillon. At age 23, she established Le Roc des Anges with her winemaker husband Stéphane.
