The Fratelli Alessandria Barolo San Lorenzo 2021 is an elegant and highly structured wine that beautifully expresses the unique character of the Verduno cru. On the nose, it offers complex and alluring aromas of wild strawberries, ripe black cherries, crushed rose petals, and notes of savory spice, licorice, and truffle. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with intense dark fruit flavors complemented by fresh acidity and firm, sophisticated tannins that provide excellent definition and length. This age-worthy Barolo is both powerful and graceful, culminating in a persistent, saline finish.
The Fratelli Alessandria estate is a historic, family-owned winery located in the village of Verduno, one of the northernmost communes in the Barolo DOCG region. The winery has been producing wine since the mid-1800s and is currently run by the fifth generation of the family. They are known for their traditional approach to winemaking, focusing on showcasing the distinct terroir of their various cru holdings, particularly those in Verduno (like their famed Monvigliero vineyard) and Monforte d'Alba (like Gramolere). The family is dedicated to minimal intervention, allowing their Nebbiolo grapes to express purity and elegance characteristic of their specific sites
