The Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Seuvrées" offers a vibrant and concentrated bouquet of dark plum, wild berries, earth, and nuanced brown spices, underpinned by a distinct mineral tension. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with exceptional purity of fruit, showcasing a firm structure and finely integrated tannins that provide significant grip without harshness. This is a powerful, delineated expression of Gevrey-Chambertin that concludes with a long, saline finish, built for extended cellaring.
The Lignier family has been a fixture in Morey-St-Denis for generations, with the domaine's history of bottling their own wine extending back to the 1920s. Hubert Lignier officially took the reins in 1965, expanding the vineyard holdings through careful acquisition and building the domaine’s stellar reputation. Following Hubert’s retirement and a brief period of uncertainty after the untimely passing of his son Romain, the estate is now expertly guided by Romain’s brother, Laurent Lignier, who oversees approximately nine hectares of prime vineyards. The domaine transitioned to certified organic viticulture in 2019, maintaining its commitment to expressing the pure terroir of its esteemed Burgundy plots.
