The Pommard Les Cras offers depth and breadth on the nose, with guarded dark-red fruit aromas. It is a mouth-filling and silky wine on the palate, showing some graphite minerality and a modest rigor in the finishing structure. It is full-flavored, fresh, and precise, culminating in a touch of black pepper. This is a wine built for the cellar and requires patience, needing at least 3-5 years to evolve fully.
The Fagot family has been in Corpeau, Burgundy, since 1860, with Jean-Charles Fagot being the third generation involved in vineyard ownership. After a career in music, Jean-Charles returned to the family business in the mid-1990s and later opened the restaurant Auberge du Vieux Vigneron in 1998. The estate practices lutte raisonnée, a sustainable farming method with limited chemical use, and the wines are traditionally vinified and aged in oak foudres for 12-14 months.
