The Molino di Sant'Antimo Brunello di Montalcino 2015 is a potent, age-worthy expression of Tuscan Sangiovese that offers a complex bouquet of ripe Marasca cherry, dark plum, licorice, pipe tobacco, and a hint of forest floor. The palate is full-bodied and elegant, structured by fine-grained, firm tannins that frame a core of rich black fruit and subtle earthy, mushroom undertones. This vintage is known for its remarkable balance between powerful structure and aromatic intensity, culminating in a persistent, velvety, and harmonious finish that promises excellent development with further cellaring.
The Molino di Sant'Antimo winery is a relatively modern operation in the historic Montalcino region, established by the Nannetti family in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Nannettis focused on producing high-quality Brunello, eventually expanding their holdings to about 20 hectares of vineyards located primarily on the southeastern slope of the Montalcino hill near the picturesque Romanesque Abbey of Sant’Antimo. The estate prides itself on a hands-on approach to viticulture and winemaking, aiming to blend traditional methods, such as prolonged aging in large Slovenian oak barrels, with contemporary understanding to craft wines that are true expressions of the local terroir.
