The Preston Farm & Winery Zinfandel is a beautifully expressive Zinfandel that balances classic California fruit with an elegant, savory structure and a distinct nod to its biodynamic farming practices. It features vibrant aromas of briary dark-red berries, black plum, and mocha powder, with an inviting hint of cracked black peppercorn. The palate offers flavors of ripe raspberry, dark cherry, and blood orange, complemented by earthy undertones and a touch of tobacco spice. With firm, dusty tannins and bright acidity, the addition of Mourvèdre and Carignan adds length and complexity, culminating in a richly structured and clean finish.
Preston Farm & Winery is a historic estate located in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, renowned for its commitment to sustainable and holistic farming practices. The property was purchased by Louis and Anita Preston in the early 1970s, pioneering the turn toward organic and ultimately certified biodynamic farming in the region. The winery focuses on utilizing old, dry-farmed vines to produce wines that genuinely express the terroir of their vineyard site. Today, the second generation continues this legacy, managing a diverse working farm that includes not only wine grapes but also organic produce, livestock, and a popular on-site farm store, embodying a deep connection to the land and a philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking.
