This Pinot Noir is highly concentrated and aromatic, presenting a complex profile of ripe red and dark fruits such as raspberry, black cherry, and plum, intertwined with earthy notes of mushroom and forest floor. Hints of violets, cinnamon, and subtle baking spices add complexity, leading to a fresh, lively palate with fine, well-integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, persistent finish.
Founded in 1998 by Paul and Kathryn Sloan, Small Vines Viticulture was built on a unique philosophy inspired by Burgundian techniques of high-density planting and organic farming. Paul, a former sommelier, sought to produce wines with authenticity, balance, and the ability to age, believing that "the smaller the vine, the better the wine". The couple eventually launched their own winery, Small Vines Wines, with the 2005 vintage, focusing exclusively on estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cool-climate Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley appellations.
