This elegant Pinot Noir offers a lively mix of red and dark fruits on the nose, including cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, complemented by subtle hints of spice and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a supple opening and a fleshy texture that features notes of mocha and dark chocolate, all supported by a fine, firm tannic structure and an invigorating mineral edge. The wine shows excellent energy and freshness, culminating in a persistent, complex finish that suggests great potential for aging.
Domaine Xavier Monnot is a respected winery based in the heart of Meursault, with a lineage of winemakers tracing back to 1723. Xavier Monnot, the sixth-generation winemaker, took over the family estate in 1994 and began bottling wines under his own label in 2005, a property previously known as Domaine René Monnier after his grandfather. The estate spans 17 hectares of vineyards across the Côte de Beaune, from Beaune to Maranges, and Xavier is known for his dedication to sustainable viticulture ("lutte raisonnée") and for crafting wines that express the purity and complexity of their specific terroir.
