The 2017 Alzero is a masterclass in concentration and poise, unfurling with a profound aromatic profile of crushed blackcurrants, dried plums, and dark cocoa. The traditional appassimento process lends a velvety, luxurious texture to the palate, where flavors of black cherry and espresso are layered with cooling notes of eucalyptus and exotic spice. Despite its natural richness and high alcohol, the wine maintains a remarkable sense of balance and freshness that guides a persistent, savory finish. It is a bold, structured red that marries the character of Cabernet with the soul of a classic Amarone.
The Giuseppe Quintarelli estate, located in the hills of Negrar, is widely regarded as the spiritual home of traditional Valpolicella. Giuseppe, often called "The Maestro del Veneto," took over his father’s winery in 1950 and spent the next sixty years perfecting a style defined by patience, manual labor, and extended oak aging. Known for his distinctive hand-written labels and refusal to compromise on quality, he transformed the region's reputation by proving that local techniques could produce world-class fine wine. Today, his family continues his legacy, maintaining the artisanal standards that have made the estate a global benchmark for Italian viticulture.
