Deep crimson-red in the glass, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Neal Family Vineyards Rutherford Dust estate delivers a complex profile of ripe red raspberries, maraschino cherry, and cassis. Densely aromatic, the bouquet reveals layers of dark chocolate, warm winter spices, and the signature loamy, "dusty" cocoa earthiness of the region. On the palate, the wine is rich and rounded, supported by firm yet approachable tannins that provide a structured framework for long-term aging. Hints of licorice, cedar, and tobacco add further depth, leading to a lingering finish that balances power with elegance.
The Neal family legacy began in 1966 when Jack and Athene Neal moved to Rutherford to farm diverse crops including walnuts, prunes, and grapes. Jack Neal founded a vineyard management company in 1968, where his son Mark learned the trade from a young age, even buying his first tractor at fourteen. The family became early pioneers of sustainability, transitioning to organic methods and achieving CCOF certification in 1984 long before it was a industry standard. In 1998, Mark Neal officially founded Neal Family Vineyards to produce estate-grown wines, later building a winery on Howell Mountain. Today, the estate is recognized as a leader in environmental stewardship, becoming the first vineyard in Napa Valley to earn the Regenerative Organic Certified designation.
